Continental Divide Tuba Society Band

Founded in 1993 by Tom Mazanec and Dave Thomas, the Society is a group of tuba, baritone, and euphonium players whose main interest is having fun while providing listening enjoyment and entertainment for audiences of all ages.  We play a variety of music, including classical, modern, “oompah”, folksongs, marches, and Christmas.  Using from four to 10 players, our unique low brass harmony provides a refreshing perspective on old favorites as well as less familiar tunes.  Many of the members also play in other groups such as the New Horizons Concert Band, the State Capital Band, Helena Symphony, and South Hills Brass Quintet.

Starting with the 1994 Festival of Trees, the Society has since played for fundraisers for the Old Governor’s Mansion and State Capitol restoration, Exploration Works, July 4 parade in Ennis, Rocky Mountain Accordion festival in Phillipsburg, and weddings.  At last year’s Sons of Norway District IV convention in Helena the group performed for delegates from North Dakota, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Montana.
